Jesus’ one purpose on this earth was to die on a cross. With the viewpoint of the world, this was a sad and meaningless existence. But from Heaven’s perspective, this was a necessary act to free all of mankind and bring them into direct connection with God.
When we seek our lives to be appealing to feel successful we are focusing on the wrong goal. Our life’s true purpose may or may not look attractive to the world, or even to ourselves for that matter. So instead focus on the direction of the Holy Spirit and regardless of the way life looks or feels, your purpose, your mission, will be fulfilled.
Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
1 Peter 1:17-19 NIV
